Shannon Pondella

Owner and Trainer

Shannon Pondella, owner and creator of surface fitness, earned her Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science. She has also earned her Certified Personal Trainer certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Along with her personal trainer certification, she has also earned her Youth Fitness Specialist, Fitness Nutrition Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist certification.

She specializes in sport specific training, team training and injury prevention sessions. Not only is Shannon at the gym teaching fitness classes and private sessions, she is also running physical education programs at many local preschools and elementary schools in the area. Her strong passion for helping children started in sports facilities and on the field. Whether it is a personal training session or a group class, she knows and indulges in the importance of helping children and providing a foundation for a lifetime of physical activity and good health.

Shannon’s favorite ways to move are running, hiking, spinning, swimming, circuit training and pilates!

JACQUELINE MENESES

Trainer

Jacqueline Meneses graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and an emphasis in Applied Fitness & Active Lifestyle. Jacqueline began working with children by taking a Children’s Motor Development class where she taught ages seven to eight year olds physical education. She has also taught many clients with disabilities in aquatic therapy at The Brown Center of Achievement. Jacqueline started teaching youth fitness classes at surface fitness in February 2016 and also teaches physical education at elementary schools with the surface fitness team. Her passion to promote active lifestyles for children began at a young age when exercise helped pain relief with her scoliosis. She encourages children to be physically active and live a healthy lifestyle into adulthood!

Jacqueline loves to do different activities on her spare time. She loves to do pilates, yoga, spinning, running, exercising at the local gym and go hiking. During the summer, she loves to wakeboard and snowboard during the winter. Her hobbies include traveling, DIY crafts, and finding new coffee shops!

MIKE MISETICH

Trainer

Mike Misetich is a senior at California State University, Northridge studying Kinesiology with an emphasis in Applied Fitness and Active Lifestyle. Mike has taken several classes working with different populations including children and those with disabilities where he has seen the impact that exercise can have. Being very active in sports, Mike saw first hand the injuries that occurred which sparked his interest in how to prevent them from happening. Along with his love for gardening, Mike found the keys to his passion for fitness and exercise. He hopes to share his knowledge with others to help them find a love for health and fitness as well!

Mike is an Eagle Scout and been a part of 3 National Jamborees. During his time with the Boy Scouts he grew to love the outdoors and nature. Being outdoors he enjoys to go fishing, hiking, kayaking and camping. His favorite season to be outdoors is during autumn because everything starts to change colors. His hobbies include gardening, mountain biking, and ceramics!
